In 2019/2020 PillarRx supported a commercial health plan during a PBM procurement project. PillarRx provided the financial analysis of the RFP. We looked for cost-savings opportunities and found areas where the plan could save money. Our recommendations saved the plan as much as 22% of the total spend after rebates.
In addition, PillarRx provided PBM contract review and negotiations support to the procurement department. The PillarRx team found ambiguous language within the contract, as well as PBM obligations not up to current market standards. Without PillarRx’s contract review and updating the PBM contract, money would have been going back to the PBM instead of the plan.
